Charles is a Classroom Instructor and Senior Navigator (SN-ON) with America’s Boating Club – Golden Isles, and a former Squadron Commander. He is also a recipient of the Charles F. Chapman Award for Excellence in Teaching, awarded by America’s Boating Club.

As a lifelong mariner, Charles has decades of practical boating experience, with a clear focus on navigation rules, seamanship, and sound real-world decision-making. His interest in boating began along the Cumberland River, where early hands-on experiences shaped his respect for safe navigation and vessel responsibility.

A dedicated member of America’s Boating Club for more than thirty years, Charles holds a 100-Ton U.S. Coast Guard license and is equally at home navigating on rivers and lakes as he is crossing the deep blue ocean.
